Caring to the end

A guide to end of life care and beyond for unpaid carers in Surrey

About us

The website has been commissioned by local NHS organisations in Surrey, namely Surrey Heartlands Health and Care Partnership and Frimley Health and Care, alongside Surrey County Council.

It was developed in response to an information gap identified by an ‘Improving the Experience of End of Life Care for Carers Task and Finish Group’ established in 2018.  The group was made up of health and social care professionals, hospices, voluntary, community faith sector providers, and most importantly carers who have direct experience of end of life caring.

The information was collated and agreed by this group with the intention of helping carers at one of the most challenging times in their lives, providing access to key information and practical assistance to help them manage when a loved one is reaching the end of life, planning for death, getting affairs in order, managing grief and looking after health and wellbeing following a bereavement.
